Le Moucheux™ presents a line of fine bamboo fly rods built in the best tradition of Canadian, English and American cane rod craftsmen.

Following the craftsmen of yesteryears while adding modern technology, Mike Lajoie™ builds bamboo fly rods that will support all the new DT fly lines as well as "old" silk lines while keeping the unique sensation and action of rods crafted from bamboo.

Quality Tonkin bamboo comes from China, this reed that we call "arundinaria amabilis" - "Lovely Reed" - is hand split, straighten with low heat, strips hand planed to 60°, glued with the best adhesives, filed to remove the excess glue, sanded, protected with 3 coats of spar varnish and hand rubbed to get a mirror finish.

Following this we attach the best of "silver nickel" ferrule, exotic wood reel seat, premium cork handle, titanium carbide guides*, coated with 3 layers of the best spar varnish. This labour of love will take the best part of 40 hours.

This does not include the years of collecting the best tapers, tools and equipment to craft the best possible bamboo fly rod.

Reading the above description, you will appreciate that a fine cane rod is not just a fishing tool but also a work of art that will increase in value with the years and above all it will become a family heirloom for generations to come.
